Kortright Centre Wedding Photos: Josephine + Jon

Wedding didn’t go to plan? We have a classic and glamorous wedding that we hope gives you inspiration and hope for your upcoming day! For Josephine and Jon, it had rained throughout their outdoor ceremony at the Kortright Centre in Vaughan, Ontario, Canada but they persisted and had an amazingly beautiful day anyway!

From Samantha Ong Photography:

Josephine and Jon kept their wedding ceremony intimate and natural. A romantic wooden arbour covered with flowers was set up amongst the tall forest trees at . They even had their cute little doggy who they brought to be with them during their traditional ceremony. Although it was scheduled to thunderstorm that day – they persevered. Their guests held up umbrellas – pushing through the rain to witness this beautiful occasion.

Their wedding ceremony was very reminiscent of their proposal where Jon set up a picnic blanket amongst a forest. Jon had put together music, champagne and the beautiful forest scenery for that special moment. Since they love to sit outdoors together by the fire eating smores with their dogs, it only made sense that their wedding ceremony was also outdoors amongst the trees!

Even still, they kept their wedding style very classic and glamorous. Josephine wore a stunning bridal gown from and absolutely rocked it with the matching cathedral Spanish lace trim veil. She paired the look with white satin bow heels. Their gold-detailed wedding cake from was just spectacular. The entire room at was just so beautifully decorated with tall floral centrepieces and a cute little sweetheart table set up in the middle with a floral garland. As Josephine and Jon were announced into their wedding reception, the entire room cheered and surrounded them as they had their first dance as husband and wife.

Client Questionnaire

Q1: Tell us about your wedding! What was the inspiration behind your day? Did you have a specific theme, style or color palette? Did you incorporate any cultural or religious traditions in any part of your day?
A1: Ceremony held at Kortright Centre outside at the Cathedral of Trees. The romantic setup included an asymmetrical floral arch and an aisle of floral arrangements including dahlias and silver dollar. Coming from a catholic background we decided to keep the tradition of Eucharist which is not often seen outside of the Catholic Church. We exchanged personal written vows right before exchanging rings. With all the hot weather it was bound to rain at some point! The clear umbrellas added a magical touch to the day. What was also special was that our dog had a large part in our day being one of the grooms men and sitting by our side during the ceremony. He was even dressed in a tuxedo!

Q2: Let’s talk wedding decor. How did you decorate your space for the ceremony and the reception? Was any part of the decor DIY?
A2: classic glam, romantic Sleek design with romantic feels by Hidden Treasures Decor

Q3: What were the florals like in your wedding? Did you use flowers in any of your design elements like the bridal bouquets, centerpieces or ceremony backdrop? Did they play an important part in the overall style of your wedding?
A3: romantic flowy

Q4: Did you personalize the day in any way (food trucks, guest entertainment etc.)? What were some of your favorite parts of your wedding?
A4: Antipasto served buffet with a seafood special and freshly sliced prosciutto. Seated Dinner was provided with Penne rigatoni and mushroom risotto to start and chicken served in a red wine reduction paired with baked potatoes and fresh vegetables.  Reception: The Terrace HallWe had a DJ, BBBlanc, and a photo booth by Samantha Ong. WE did have a first dance surrounded by fog and our families. Our first dance is an hardly known song by the brides favorite band. The Script- Never seen anything quite like you. The couple wanted a up beat but not over played song to remember the day. A line in the song says ” I’ve stood there and all as your date to the prom” which is cute as the couple went to their respective proms together as well. Our top 3 wedding details:The dress by Pnina Tornai was mouth watering and exactly what I had imagined. It made me feel beautiful and sexy. The lace was unlike anything I have ever seen! The flowers were gorgeous and the head table piece was outstanding! It looked so magical and brought the whole room together. The cake looked just as amazing as it tasted! We are so looking forward to our first wedding anniversary to get into it again! – Nadia and Co.

Q5: Let’s talk fashion. How did you both choose your wedding day look? Describe the looks in detail.
A5: Louboutons bridal shoes were not so comfy but oh so cute. The flower boy brought the ring down the aisle in a glass box filled with the dried petals of the corsages from both our proms where we went together!

Q6: How did you meet? Tell us about the proposal.
A6: We’ve been together since before high school lol! We’ve been each others firsts everything and each others only love. We’ve been together over 10 years. He proposed a year ago in April! We went for a walk in the forest at his moms house and he set up a picnic blanket with music and champagne and proposed with a beautiful scenery behind.

Q7: What was the most anticipated or special moment of your wedding day?
A7: Our favourite 3 moments:
Speeches! We loved hearing our best man and maid of honour shower us with praise and also make us laugh and cry as we reminisced on old memories. Our first dance was exactly what I wanted it to be; just the two of u! We felt like we were on another planet by the end of it and it was the first alone time we had since becoming husband and wife. It felt like how I wanted to spend the rest of eternity feeling like. Getting ready with my bridesmaids was really fun listening to music talking about the day and just having fun. Nothing like girl talk to talk down a nervous bride!

Q8: Do you have any wedding planning or marriage advice that you’d like to share with other couples planning their day?
A8: There were financial challenges as the brides taste is bigger then her bite! We definitely went over budget under estimating the costs of all the small things that add up to big things.PACK A CURLER!I forgot to pack a curler and due to the rain my hair went from curly to straight by the reception.I freaedk out it my suite and even cried but figured it all out. Definitely not worth the tears but better be safe then sorry. I highly suggest planning a day that you would be happy with and forget all other input including parents. They want the best for you but sometimes they do not know you as well as they think they do! Do what makes you both happy as in the end you are becoming husband and wife!
